In the Woods, April to May

After a long brown winter, Spring is such a welcome season. We had little snow this year, and winter was dreary. I am glad I put in more Jonquil and Daffodil this past Fall, and I will do the same again this year. Spring is here and so many of the natives are coming in strong. To my delight, it has been a procession of blooms. Below, April to May.

April, there is a tint of green to the dry white light of Winter. Life emerges, fungi, buds, and a container of panies and daffodils.

As April progresses, the trout lily and spring beauty emerge from the earth and daffodils open.

Into late April, the show continues. Each day more things seem to come alive. Blackberry leaves bud, ostrich fern unfurl, and a native white bleeding heart softly blooms.

And finally to May where grass is green and early flowers shine. Shooting star, trillium, geranium, Jacob’s ladder, and Tulips.
