It looks like Spring is here! Here’s a list of tasks that won’t be in jeopardy if we do get a little cold snap.
- Pick up trash.
- Clean up lawn furniture.
- Realign rock, brick that may have moved during the winter.
- Add stepping stone so as not to compact the soil when you cross through beds.
- Add compost and mulch to existing beds.
- Level out your yard with compost and plant grass seed.
- Divide perennials like Yarrow, Hosta, Cone flower, and Native Grasses, with helpful information form Iowa State University Extension.
- Cut back dead plant tops that were left for winter interest. Grasses should be cut back to 4-6 inches above the soil level.
- Start some cold weather crops, like lettuce and mixed baby green.
- Sow sweet peas, they are beautiful smelling and should be sown a month before the frost date. Here are some tips from Renee’s Garden.
- Sit back and enjoy the early Spring blooms.
