When it comes to September, I look forward to Goldenrod and White Aster. They create this beautiful cascade of yellow and white. Most people associate these plants with open fields, pastures, and roadsides. If you let them into your garden, be prudent about weeding. Both of these plants have many flowers that create many seeds to become many plants the following year.
These plants aren’t for everyone. I spend on average a half hour or more each day in my garden. Just being in the garden, you begin to learn what the little seedlings look like. I do weed many of the goldenrod and aster that start each year, but I leave enough to have gold and white waves of blooms in September.
