Cigar Rolled Sage

photo by Kevin Lee Jacobs for Garden Design

I ran across a great way to save your sage for winter.

  1. wash and remove leaves from stems
  2. let dry completely so they don’t turn brown in the freezer
  3. after they’ve dried, stuff them into the bottom third of a freezer bag
  4. roll, as you would a cigar, releasing the air as you go
  5. keep tightly rolled with rubber bands
  6. close and freeze
  7. cut as needed from the end of your “cigar”
